Dear Senator Webb,
I write today to remind you that as of today, June 28, 2007 the Iraq body count is somewhere between 66,602 and 72,910 and that the American soldier death count is 3,570. Also we have 26,129 wounded soldiers. 403 contract deaths have been reported as well in a database which is incomplete because the information is not released to the public. (My sources here: http://icasualties.org/oif/Civ.aspx, http://www.antiwar.com/casualties/
There is no end to this war in sight. With all the lives destroyed, and chaos that has closed in on Iraq, why are we still there? What are we doing?
We need a comprehensive plan to bring the soldiers home now. With your vast military experience, you should introduce a plan now to begin bringing the troops home, starting immediately.
Need I also remind you that those who put us into this situation need to be indicted for war crimes including torture of prisoners. Surely the Angler series in the Washington Post this week provides plenty of grounds for impeachment of Dick Cheney. I ask you to indict when Mr. Cheney's impeachment is passed.
Please reinstate our constitutional right of habeas corpus which was taken from us in the Military Commissions Act of 2006. We as English-speaking people have had this right for 800 years. We can't let Bush and Cheney act like absolute dicators.
This paragraph only to Senator Webb:
Please, I beseech you, Senator Webb. I worked hard on your campaign, as did so many others who are concerned about the same issues I am. We need for you to restore the constitution and the peace so this country can start to heal.
Thank you from a concerned citizen.
