Today I participated in a Press Conference for Adam Kokesh. Adam is a young Iraq War veteran who was honorably discharged from the Marines after he performed his service to his country, he came back to this country with a view on the war that conflicted with his President. This young man, who joined the Marines at the age of 17 had the courage to change his mind and stand up once again for his country - for free speech rights. When I look at a principled young man like Adam Kokesh I wonder, what has this country done to deserve such a fine young Marine who stands up on principle and may lose his benefits - and in this country where not everyone has health benefits or a step up to buy a house this is such a huge thing.
This young man is at the beginning of his life and what does this country do to a young man who has already served more than most?
This country wants to screw him out of any benefits - benefits that don't impact the rich, but do impact very much so, people of moderate means. Jim Webb our Senator just introduced and had a bill passed to up the benefits for veterans. The pro-War contingient of this government was highly adverse to helping the veterans of this Halliburton warchest oil money and blood flow.
The Veterans for Peace are driving the peace bus out to Kansas City for Adam's "Trial". Please be dilligient on any news of this, and any way we can help Adam.
